About Outage Hours

Outage Hours shows how many hours a portable power station will run the devices you need when the power goes out. We rank power stations for CPAP machines now. The home page lists what other devices draw, and which one we rank next.

We don't lab-test units. Each hour figure is a calculation: the energy a unit gave back in an independent test, divided by the device's watts plus the station's own idle draw. Where no test exists, we use 85% of the maker's rating and mark the row as an estimate. Device watts come from the makers' manuals and public energy data, and outage figures from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Each row lists its sources, and the method page shows the math.

Some store links may earn us a commission. It never changes the order: the formula sets the ranking, and units that can't last the night stay in the table with the reason.
