Which power station runs a CPAP through an outage?
16 power stations sold in the US, ranked by hours on a ResMed AirSense 11. The smallest one in stock that lasts the night comes first.
Hours calculated from measured or estimated capacity and ResMed's published draw.
Smallest in-stock battery with measured capacity that lasts the night. 890Wh measured in an independent test.
These units take 8 to 20 thousandths of a second to switch over when the power cuts, so none is a medical backup. Read this first.

If your CPAP isn't an AirSense 11
Hours scale with your machine's watts. Divide the usable energy shown in a row by your CPAP's watts plus the idle draw. Halving the watts doesn't double the hours, because the station's idle draw stays the same: on the C1000 Gen 2, a 28W machine gets about 22 hours, not 26. Look for "typical power consumption" in your user guide. Philips lists only an 80W power supply for the DreamStation 2, not a typical figure, so we can't rank for it yet.
Editor's note
Every unit here with measured capacity lasts at least 8 hours at ResMed's typical figure, so choose by how many nights you want covered; the size headings in the table show the range. ResMed doesn't say which pressure or humidifier setting its 56.1W assumes. At the 73.2W peak, expect about a fifth fewer hours, which is the smaller number under each row.

Before the storm
- Charge the unit to 100%. Plug the CPAP into the station and the station into the wall, so it switches to battery on its own when the power cuts.
- 1 evening before the storm, start the CPAP through the station, then pull the station's wall plug and sleep the night on battery. The hours you get are your real number at your settings, and the moment you pull the plug shows whether your machine minds the switchover.
- Set it by the bed, where the CPAP cord reaches it.
Before you rely on it
None of these units switches over in 0 ms (the makers list 8 to 20 ms), and none is a medical UPS. If your CPAP must never pause, ask your equipment supplier what they recommend, and ask your power company whether it runs a medical-needs program.
How these numbers are made
Usable capacity comes from an independent tester where one exists, otherwise rated capacity × 0.85, marked as an estimate. The method page has the formula, every default, the tests and a CSV of this table.
